Victory for local campaigners as funding secured for James Gillespie's High School

Mike hands a petition calling for the renovation of James Gillespie's and Boroughmuir to Fiona Hyslop

The Scottish Government has announced that James Gillespie's High School will receive funding towards the renewal of its buildings. Mike had been campaigning along with local teachers, parents, pupils and residents for the funding of work at James Gillespie's since it was announced earlier in the year that funding would not be allocated.

On hearing the announcement Mike Pringle commented, "The allocation of this funding represents the culmination of months of campaigning and is testament to the hard work of the whole school community at James Gillespie's. Head teachers, School Board Chairs and Education Convenor Councillor Marilyne MacLaren have worked tirelessly for funding for the school infrastructure over the past decade."
