Congratulations to Meadows Nursery on Green Flag Award!

Mike Pringle MSP joined children, staff and parents at Meadows Nursery last week to present them with the prestigious green flag award.

Meadows Nursery has become only the third independent children's nursery in Edinburgh to have achieved the prestigious Green Flag award by Eco Schools in recognition of good practice and commitment to environmental issues.

The Eco Schools programme is an international initiative designed to encourage whole-school action for the protection of the environment. There are currently 224 Edinburgh registered schools and nurseries which are working to achieve the awards - Bronze, Silver and Green Flag.

"This is an incredible achievement for the nursery, and a tremendous example of what can be done, even at a local level, to raise awareness of and tackle climate change.

"I know all the children, staff and parents have worked really hard, so its a real privilege to present them with their green flag.

Karen Johnston of Meadows Nursery said

"Everyone at Meadows Nursery has worked really hard to achieve this award and we are all delighted and looking forward to receiving our Green Flag.

"The children at the nursery now have a much greater awareness of environmental issues both in the nursery and at home."
