BALMWELL UPDATE : Pringle Celebrates Planning Knockback

12.10.00pm GMT Wed 7th Nov 2007

Mike Pringle MSP was today celebrating news that the application for 159 flats in the grounds of Balmwell House has been turned down by the City Council.

Mike had been campaigning alongside local residents to see that the application was stopped due to concerns about the unrealistic scale of the development, the threat to several mature trees on the site, the effect on the local infrastructure as well as the impact on the character and setting of the well and villa which are both listed buildings

Mike Pringle said,

"I am delighted by the Council's decision; the Balmwell application did not have proper respect for the character of the site. I would like to thank all the residents who joined me in opposing this gross over-development."
